An ever increasing topic of conversation can be heard across universities, bars and venues by passionate gig goers up and down the country and particularly in London.... " What is happening to our precious live music venues?" The observation is clear; they are disappearing at an alarming rate into the hands of developers, in spite of huge public opposition. The live music scene is in desperate need of something new to fly in the face of these closures, at a time when UK bands are exporting on a level of excellence not seen since the sixties.

Enter 229 , a fantastic newly developed medium sized live music venue in the heart of London, located directly opposite Great Portland St Tube Station. After a recent refurbishment and a newly installed high spec PA and light system, this venue was unveiled in April 2007 due to the efforts of a new management team. They are currently working in collaboration with artists, managers, agents, labels and promoters alike in developing '229' as a live gig venue. With venue1 having a capacity of 620 and venue2 holding another 140, 229 is positioning itself as a significant medium sized venue at the forefront of London's live music scene .
